Narrative Report
PICE Tarlac Chapter – Brigada Eskwela and Regular Monthly Meeting

A new academic year is approaching, and everybody is busy, might it be enrolling, buying supplies, or preparing themselves for another year of learning. As for schools, their preparation includes furnishing facilities that learners will have to use. On July 19, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers – Tarlac Chapter started its mission to contribute to their community by producing competent students. They conducted a Brigada Eskwela program in Don Basilio Elementary School at Gerona, Tarlac in assistance with its faculties and staff.

As part of the program, they donated white paints for the repainting of the classrooms. The members helped in repainting three rooms, specifically for the kindergarten, grade five, and grade six students. After they painted the rooms, they also lent a hand in cleaning them. The organization recognizes the warm welcome of the school which pushes them to collaborate with them again in any viable way. The activity lasted for half a day and the members conducted their meeting right after.

They discussed incoming activities in the meeting; including the 39th Civil Engineering Quiz at Holy Angel University, which was supposed to be on July 27 but was moved to August 31. All officers must attend to support the said event, and the needed files were already sent to the student chapter’s president. There will be a Regional Technical conference at Baler, Aurora on August 23-24, where Sir Dion, Sir Coco, Sir Gerome, and Sir Camilo will be attending. A sports fest was announced to commence on September 16 at SM Clark. The fest consists of bowling, darts, billiards, table tennis, basketball, and badminton. Further, they will conduct a Balik Eskwela program on the same location as Brigada Eskwela, which will be sponsored by Mayor Cristy Angeles.

Membership requirements were highlighted in the meeting. Sir Camilo then reported about their medical mission. He proposed the mission as well as the gift-giving on either September 21 or 28 at Burgos, San Jose, Tarlac. He is to coordinate the Provincial Capitol and Ma’am Bernadette for planning. In this activity, a hundred people are targeted to be the recipients/ participants. After that, the topic shifted to sports. They tackled the needed teams, persons in charge, and equipment.

It was clear that all civil engineering graduates without license must apply for membership for them to participate in the sport fest, where a diploma is the requirement. The discussion ended with the assigning of requesting for the letter in Sitio Baag. The meeting was then adjourned at 12:49 PM, concluding the short yet busy day of the PICE Tarlac.
